Technology in the classroom

Yesterday a teacher I work with accidentally displayed pictures of himself taken on a beach in Spain.

He had on a bathing suit.

This would have been mildly unprofessional had it happened in the teacher's lounge but it took on a whole other level of inappropriate given that it occurred on the overhead projector in his classroom.

He was trying to pull up a presentation he had done on pronouns but when he put in the flash drive holding the presentation the pictures came up.

"I just don't know why it did that," he said over and over again when he told us in the lounge later on.

As if his partial state of undress was not bad enough there was the matter of his facial expression. It was downright seductive. This in turn caused us to harangue him about just who was on the other side of the camera.

He would not tell us.

"The kids will forget in a couple of days," I told him.

This may be true, but we sure as hell won't.

Today I was putting together a bulletin board in the hall for parent-teacher conferences when he passed by.

"Got any photos? You know, for the bulletin board?" I asked.

Another teacher we work with is pregnant. The teacher with the pictures from Spain is always saying her ass is getting fat.

With yesterday came sweet revenge for the pregnant lady.

"What kind of gay porn do you gave for your students today?" she called out over lunch.

Then she stood up and proceeded to imitate his expressions in the pictures.

They're always pushing us to use technology in the classroom. It motivates the students and keeps them engaged, they say.

This could all be true.

Just be careful.
